Report Counterfeit Spare Parts in Kenya — Help Us Keep Traccx Safe
Report counterfeit spare parts in Kenya using the form on this page. Counterfeit auto parts are one of the most dangerous problems on Kenyan roads — fake brake pads fail under pressure, counterfeit shock absorbers collapse without warning, and mislabelled engine parts cause irreversible damage. Traccx has a zero tolerance policy for counterfeit parts. Every report submitted on this page is investigated by our team within 24 hours. Vendors confirmed to be selling counterfeit or mislabelled parts are permanently banned from the platform and all affected buyers receive immediate refunds.

Why It Matters
The Danger of Counterfeit Spare Parts in Kenya
Fake spare parts are not just a financial loss — they are a life safety issue affecting every road user in Kenya.
Fake Brake Pads Kill
Counterfeit brake pads are made from compressed sawdust, grass, and low-grade binding compounds. They fail within weeks. A National Transport and Safety Authority report found brake failure to be among the top causes of fatal road accidents in Kenya. Genuine brake pads save lives.
Counterfeit Shocks Cause Accidents
Fake shock absorbers use inferior steel and fluid that fails under Kenyan road conditions. A vehicle with failed shocks cannot be controlled safely especially on rough upcountry roads. The driver may not realise the shocks have failed until it is too late to react.
The Cost of Counterfeit Parts
The Kenya Bureau of Standards estimates up to 30% of spare parts in circulation in Kenya are counterfeit or substandard. Kenyan vehicle owners lose billions of shillings annually replacing fake parts that fail prematurely and cause further engine and mechanical damage.

How to Identify a Counterfeit Spare Part
These are the most common signs that the part you received is counterfeit or mislabelled. If you spot any of these report it immediately.
Genuine parts come in properly printed packaging with clear branding, part numbers, and manufacturer details. Counterfeit packaging often has blurry printing, spelling errors, missing information, or flimsy materials.
Genuine brake pads, rotors, and metal components have a specific weight based on the material used. If the part feels significantly lighter than expected it may contain inferior or substitute materials.
Every genuine spare part has a manufacturer part number stamped or printed on it. If the part number on the physical part does not match the packaging or the product listing it is likely counterfeit or mislabelled.
Genuine parts have a consistent, high quality finish. Counterfeits often show uneven paint, rough casting marks, visible seams, rust spots, or other manufacturing defects that genuine quality control would reject.
If a branded part was listed at a price significantly below the typical market rate in Kenya it may be counterfeit. Genuine Bosch, KYB, NGK, and other brand name parts have an established price range. Prices 50% or more below market are a major warning sign.
Genuine imported spare parts should carry the Kenya Bureau of Standards Diamond Mark or the manufacturer's original anti-tamper seal. Absence of these marks does not always mean counterfeit but combined with other signs it is a strong indicator.

Our Process
What Happens After You Submit a Report
Your report is received immediately and logged in our system. You will receive an automated confirmation on your phone number within 2 hours during business hours Monday to Saturday 8AM to 6PM EAT. Our team is notified immediately when a new report arrives.
Our compliance team reviews your photos and order details. We compare the reported part against the product listing, vendor history, and any previous reports against the same vendor. We may contact you for additional photos or information if needed. The vendor's listings may be temporarily suspended while the investigation is active.
The vendor is notified of the report and given 24 hours to provide evidence that the part is genuine — such as supplier invoices, manufacturer documentation, or an explanation. If the vendor cannot provide satisfactory evidence or fails to respond the investigation moves to the final stage.
If the report is confirmed the vendor is permanently banned from Traccx with no right of appeal. You receive a full refund to your M-Pesa within 24 hours. All other buyers who purchased the same part from the same vendor are also refunded and notified. The case is documented and the vendor's identity is flagged in our system permanently.
